JetWay debunks six common myths in the private jet industry.
MYTH #1: AIRCRAFT AGE MATTERS
The larger fractional and jet card companies want you to believe that the age of your aircraft matters, implying that an older aircraft is less safe and less appealing. Air Force One, the Boeing 747 that flies the President of the United States, was built over 30 years ago in 1987! The fact is however, a plane’s safety is not determined solely by its age, but by many other factors including its maintenance history and the skill level of its crew. At JetWay we can access for you both new and well-maintained older aircraft that are high-quality, reliable, and safe.
MYTH #2: FRACTIONAL & JET CARD COMPANIES USE ONLY NEWER PLANES
The larger fractional and jet card companies want you to believe that they only use newer planes. The fact is however, these companies use older planes all of the time. In further fact, these fractional and jet card companies spend billions of dollars each year on older charter aircraft to fly their clients. At JetWay, we can access for you both new and well-maintained older aircraft that are consistently refurbished to look new, and are of high-quality, reliable, and safe.
MYTH #3: FRACTIONAL & JET CARD COMPANIES USE ONLY THEIR OWN PLANES
The larger fractional and jet card companies claim that they fly their clients exclusively on their own fleets. The fact is, they do not. These companies spend billions of dollars each and every year on “charter” aircraft to supplement their fleets during “peak” demand periods when they oversell their programs. By doing so, they implicitly admit that this “charter” aircraft environment that JetWay accesses in fact provides travelers a high level of quality, reliability, and safety.
MYTH#4: FRACTIONAL & JET CARD COMPANIES HAVE BETTER PILOTS
The larger fractional and jet card companies would have you believe that their pilots are better than “charter” pilots because their pilots have more experience (total hours flown) and are specialized (flying only one plane “type”). The fact is, they are not. Pilots in the JetWay “charter” environment, in many cases have more hours and more experience than pilots working for these large companies. And further, most every pilot in the private jet industry, including “charter” and fractional/jet card, receives training at the same company: Flight Safety International.
MYTH #5: FRACTIONAL & JET CARD COMPANIES PLANES ARE SAFER
The larger fractional and jet card companies suggest that their “newer” planes and “type dedicated” pilots create a safer flying experience. The fact is, this is not supported by the statistics. These other companies consistently use pilots who are type-rated on multiple aircraft and there is no data to suggest there is a safety difference between fractional, jet card, and chartered private jets.
MYTH #6: FRACTIONAL & JET CARD COMPANIES USE HIGHER SAFETY STANDARDS
The larger fractional and jet card companies make a general claim that their operations are safer than “charter” operations. The fact is, they are not. The truth is these companies regularly use the same charter planes and crews that JetWay uses all of the time. And given this consistent use of charter aircraft and crews by these larger fractional and jet card companies, and the constant safety evaluations of these charter aircraft and crews by these companies as part of their safety protocols, a very, very safe “charter” environment has been created for our JetWay clients. And the statistics bear this out.
